Grayhawk Golf Club - Talon Course
Designed by former U.S. Open PGA Champion David Graham and architect Gary Panks, the Talon Course is one of the most exciting courses in the Southwest. The McDowell Mountains that surround the course provide breathtaking views for golfers all throughout the game. Another unique aspect is the distant Scottsdale and Phoenix skylines that can be seen on some areas of the course. A lot like its sister course, the Talon features unique plant life such as Saguaro Cacti, thick stands of Mesquite, Palo Verde, and Ironwood trees. Colorful flowers native to the hot Arizona climate also dot the out-of-play areas. The fairways tend to appear smaller than their actual size, a design element added by Graham and Panks. The greens are fairly large but are multi-tiered, reducing their size a bit.
The Talon Course has won a spot on "The Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." list by Golf Magazine, and has also hosted many professional events such as the semi-finals and finals of the Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf Tournament.
