The Best Golf in Alabama

Along with many other sights and activities, Alabama is home to several amazing golf clubs. Breathtaking courses are strategically located close to one another in each distinct region.

Grand National Golf Club at sunrise

Grand National

32 of the 54 holes on the Robert Trent Jones-designed Grand National course are located around the shoreline of the 600-acre Lake Saugahatchee. The Lake Course, Links Course, and Short Course are the three 18-hole courses that are offered at the Grand National.

The Links and Lake courses were ranked in the top 10 “America’s Top 50 Affordable Courses,” “Best Golf Courses in Alabama,” and “Places to Play” lists of Golf Digest.

The Barbasol Championship and other competitions have been held at Grand National on its various courses. This course and its amenities provide for a fantastic day of golf for golfers of all skill levels. There are several dining options at the location, and there is also a pro shop.

Capitol Hill Golf Club

Capitol Hill

Judge, Senator, and Legislator, each measuring upwards of 7,400 yards from the back tees at the Capitol Hill Golf Club in Prattville. Three 18-hole championship courses that were constructed on 1,500 acres of breathtaking natural beauty.

The Senator (7,724 yards) is a Scottish-style links course with excellent greens, more than 160 pot bunkers, and mounds around the fairways. The fact that every hole is isolated gives the sense that you have the entire golf course to yourself.

Ross Bridge

Ross Bridge

Ross Bridge, a course close to Birmingham, is one of the largest in the world at an eyewatering 8,200 yards from the back tees. However, if you are not a long hitter, don’t panic as there are five tees on each hole.

A stunning waterfall that drops 80 feet in between 9th and 18th greens connects two lakes that are the sites of 10 holes on this parkland course. Even though the course is lengthy, you will likely remember the par three holes the most because several of them have significant elevation changes and water hazards. When taking on the Robert Trent Jones Trail, this course is a must.
